Sector Skill Council

The Sector Skill Council of India is set up to bring leading organizations of the industry together to create strategies and operational plans that will create standardized skill requirements for the various job roles in the industry in different sector. The skill council will also accredit well equipped service providers who will partner to disseminate the training. The skill council is seen by its stakeholders and partners as a nation-building activity with far reaching implications for social development and empowerment through financial inclusion.

Nos & QP

SSCs lay down the National Occupational Standards (NOS). The NOS specify the standard of performance an individual must achieve when carrying out a function in the workplace, together with the knowledge and understanding they need to meet a standard consistently. A set of NOS, aligned to a job role, called Qualification Pack, would be available for every job role in each industry sector. These drive both the creation of curriculum, and assessments. Each NOS defines one key function in a job role. In their essential form, NOS describe functions, standards of performance and knowledge/understanding.
